A Father-Daughter’s Trip Last October, I went to Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, with my dad for 4 days using the promotion ticket we bought in the beginning of this year. I was quite excited since this was my first trip with dad, just the two of us J
The trip was
fun; we went here and there visiting the ‘must visit’ places in HCM, such as
Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, Cu Chi Tunnel,
Mekong River, etc. But what I want to highlight from this trip is my conversation
with dad; I got the chance to ask him on various things without any interruption
and heard his honest answers.
Dad answered,
“It is all about berpengharapan, or
having faith. Why stress out when you have Almighty GOD? If you’re stressed, it
means that you don’t have much faith on your God, or you think that your God isn’t
powerful enough to help you with your problems. I have faith in Almighty GOD
who can help me through anything and everything, so why stress out? It’s just
wasting time, energy, and only brings you fatigue and illness.”
When I heard this answer, my first thought was, “Wow, my
dad is awesome!” J Later
on, when I ponder about his answer, I realized how true it is. Perhaps it is a
normal human reaction when someone feels stress when facing heavy issues in his
life. But to let it build up and resulting in depression or health deterioration,
it’s just too bad.
As a Christian, we believe in Almighty GOD, God who created
heaven and earth and everything in it, who cares about us more than anything,
like it is said in Luke 12: 6-7, “ 6Are not five sparrows sold
for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7Indeed,
the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are
worth more than many sparrows.”
In short, having such a powerful God, no need to stress out
J It is alright to
worry, to fret, but don’t let it rule your mind and emotion. Keep calm and keep
praying, do your best and God will do the rest. After all, “We know that in all
things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Your dad leave a unique impression on me. Especially when he rode 6 of us down from Sea to Manado..
I remember clearly how he questioned us why we did not go to SMA Eben. I was a bit annoying actually last time, but i think now i can understand why =)
